William Wellden

189 Middle Street
5 St. Patricks Road

Occupation: Pawnbroker & Clothier

William, with his younger brother John Hudson, took over his father’s Pawnbrokers business at 189 Middle Street. After John married in 1852 it seems that William moved to his own house in St. Patricks Road and that at least by the 1860s he had become a Proprietor of Houses gaining his income by the renting out of several properties. Beyond that, we know very little about William who died in 1889. He outlived his brother George, who died in  1860 and also John Hudson who died in 1862. His other brother Thomas was an executor to his will in which he left £2, 278 6s 2d.
