Memories

Over the years we have gathered together a large amount of information about Deal, books, photos, postcards, newspaper extracts and copies of documents from various archives. Going through these recently some items caught our attention. Three ‘memories’ of Deal from people who lived here in around the 1870s. Two were handwritten accounts and one was a newspaper piece printed in the East Kent Mercury.

What interested us most about these is that they are memories of a childhood in Deal. We have researched further  and, where we can, we expanded on the written ‘memories’ to tell more of their individual lives.
